Library Projects

The Backyard Explorers Program was a series of outdoor library programs focused on getting kids outside and introducing the concept of Citizen Science. Funding was provided by Spotty Rain Campaign at Oklahoma State University. Children learned about local birds and bugs, operated basic scientific tools, and kept a field notebook of their observations. To read more about my experience, check out my mini-zine.

The Period Products Access Initiative started in 2023 after noticing a community need for free period products. As of December 2023, 95 percent of public library buildings in Niagara, Orleans and Genesee Counties provide FREE organic period products in their bathrooms. This project was partially funded by the Grigg-Lewis Foundation.

Nioga's Pop-up Storywalk® project was supported in part by funds from the NYS Library's Family Literacy Library Services Program. Thirty-one titles were assembled by Nioga's Summer Reading Program Assistants to help promote early literacy activities during the pandemic. Pop-up Storywalks have "popped-up" in the community over 168 times since being created in 2020.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.”

Established the Nioga STEAM Gadget Library to encourage STEAM programming at the library. After securing funding from Grigg-Lewis Foundation, we established the Nioga STEAM Gadget Library, a collection of toys, robots, electronics and materials to be borrowed by our 21 public libraries for children's STEAM programs. The gadgets have been a smashing success and used in over 150 library programs since February 2019.
